It may be difficult for us to admit it, because the world may seem an exciting place in some ways. But to be honest can't you see the world has completely lost its way.
The Bible says it's down to disobedience. Going against the order, God had established from the beginning. In short SIN. A small word but immense in its description of the divisive force which separates mankind from its creator. Sin and its effects were first experienced by the first man and woman as told in Genesis. Their act of disobedience as described in Genesis 3 was the result of them believing they could be equal with God, knowing all things. But their mistake, their severe misjudgement cast them away from the good life they had to a life of hardship. · Separated from God · Now sinful people, that would be passed on to their offspring · Mankind now sentenced to die.
What hope for mankind now? God had kept His promise as He always would. Did God want his creation to die? Of course not! So His mercy is exhibited by providing a covering for them. Genesis 3 v 21: 21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
Only a small verse but a giant in getting us to know how God works with us. To help us (mankind) find a route back to God. He invites us to be part of His plan for the future of the world. Notice how it is the skin of an animal God used to clothe them. Showing the way forward that only through sacrifice could mankind achieve atonement with God.
The Apostle Peter in his 2nd letter Ch3 v 9 puts it: 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Reconciliation has been displayed by God throughout the ages: In the Law of Moses by inviting people to provide offerings usually in the form of animal sacrifice. Of course the animal sacrificed pointed the way forward as to how God would provide the ultimate sacrifice of His own Son of whom Jesus Christ was that Son. Now
only through Jesus can people be reconciled to God. Bridging that gap that was
established in Only through Jesus will God restore the world away from the current turmoil by sending Jesus His Son who died and was raised again to live forever to return to Earth and set-up His everlasting Kingdom of righteousness and peace. Prayer
Dear Father Help us to realise our sins and to ask you to show us Jesus and how by example he displayed true obedience to you, for us to follow and make ourselves right in your eyes. So that even we can find reconciliation with you and may be invited to be with Jesus in your future Kingdom. In Jesus saving name we pray to you. Amen. |
